Got a direct ride to Haag in 15-20 min of waiting. I'm a girl, was staying with a sign HAAG and thumb. Car speed is okayish (around 30-40km/h), they're turning from 2 directions, so you can stay in the middle of the crosswalk and catch both flows

On ramp with hard shoulder. Cars can stop safe here. Use it for direction west. Only traffic coming from direction Zutphen can enter this road. Not traffic coming from Deventer.

No good spot anymore; 2 lanes and no place to stop. Dangerous. It is better to use the on ramp on the other side for the same direction going west.

Short hard shoulder just after traffic lights. Long enough to stop safe. Cars coming from highway or Zutphen can see you. I used it with sign Deventer to get to center. Always worked well after 10-30 minutes

Good spot going east

Bus stop. Most cars going towards highway, not much traffic going east. Worked with sign Deventer after 1 hour

We didn't try this, but you probably have to head south from maastricht to go north. the south-facing highway spot has good reviews, from there you could head to the gas station near eijsden, walk over to the opposite gas station and hitchhike north

quite a few people heading to Sittard/Geleen/Heerlen, the EV parking is probably the place to find long distance drivers, first guy we asked there was heading to the Ardennen

More variation in driver destinations than expected, rejected rides to Vught(?) and Antwerp before finding one to Limburg

If your driver is heading to Eindhoven and you're heading to Maastricht, you can ask them to drop you off at exit Best on the A58, from where you can walk to gas station Kloosters.

Becoming my favorite spot to leave Nijmegen, rarely have to ask more than 3 people. This spot is so convenient we decided to go to Maastricht via Eindhoven, which worked really well.

Half of the cars here are Dutch, so there are many people going to Enschede/Hengelo. If you just ask around you can definitely get a ride to the Netherlands very fast Second person I asked gave me a ride to Enschede.

There is traffic going to Genk, the Netherlands or Germany. Also some UK plates.

May favourite starting spot to get out of the area to the Netherlands/Belgium/France. So far has worked out for me fairly quickly every single time. This review is super late, but I was there in May in the afternoon and found folks going my direction in half an hour by asking around. It only took half an hour because they wanted to finish their meal (which, totally fair.) I think the finding itself only took about 10 minutes.

Last petrol station on the highway before entering the Netherlands. Don't get stuck here at night as there is nobody! I went to sleep in the Hasbruch Tower which is in a nature reserve about a 30 minutes hike northwest. Next morning it took me two hours to head towards Leer

Lots of cars going back to the Netherlands. Most had kids on the backseat, but after 25 mins we found someone to take us to the Dutch border.

Lots of space to pull over, but traffic seemed local. I was trying to get onto the E34 to the Netherlands via Antwerp(ambitious, I know) and was offered a ride that took me further down the N9. You might be better off taking the E40 to Ghent/Antwerp if you wanna go to the Netherlands, but I didn't try that other option. Disregarding that though, it's decent.

I went on the ferry thanks to a car coming from Maribo. Then on the ferry I was looking for people going directly to Hamburg. After 10 people, I found 2 dutch brothers coming from Norway and going to the Netherlands. They dropped me at Moorfleet Ikea Hamburg. I was alone and with a small bag.

got stuck there mid trip as the night fell, the station employee was really nice, let us sleep in our bags inside and gave us tea, we found a ride eventually in the middle of the night, the rode through belgium without stopping and left us just after the Netherlands border

Very busy gas station. Asked around and then an Indian family took me straight to the Netherlands. They were driving to Almere, but they dropped me off in Wageningen in front of my dorm.

If coming from direction Buir, take the train to Duren :) Here it is good to go west in direction of the Netherlands

Its a really good spot to get to the Netherlands because this road leads to the cities in that direction. I needed to reach Maastricht and it was the first driver who took me directly there. Its faster to get a ride standing with a sign.

Used this hitchhiking frequently lately. Going to Wallonia/France/South is very hard if you are not willing to go via Liege. Going to Bruxelles would be a question of a few minutes and going direction Aarschot/Antwerpen/The Netherlands will take around half an hour I guess

Amazing spot if you're going anywhere in the Netherlands. There was a lot of traffic and I quickly found a driver who took me to the service station in the south of Nijmegen. In retrospect, I should have waited here longer and looked for a longer ride.

Great spot if you're hitchhiking from Cologne to the Netherlands. You can get here from Nievenheim train station and bus WE2. After that it's just a 15 minute walk to the station. If you look on Google satellite, you will spot a small trail after the bridge over the highway. It is traversable but I wouldn't recommend it as it leads through hunting grounds that are private property. Better to take the long way around. Either way, the service station is accessible on foot through a whole in the fence or on the small road. Waited for 5 minutes, then found a friendly man and his girlfriend who took me one service station further to Geismühle. There was low traffic on Saturday, but I got lucky and found somebody quickly.

More people going to the Netherlands than Liège but I still found a ride there in under 30 minutes. Even got approached back! Bonus points for the cute dog I got to have on my lap (not reflected in the rating.)

Took me two hours to find someone to go in the direction of Liège. To be fair, it was a bad time, Mid-November on a weekday when it was super foggy, but most people were just going to Aachen or North to the Netherlands or Antwerp. So if you wanna go there, it's a good spot, I guess. However the person who took me was super nice and even made a small detour for me.
